THINKING ABOUT A CAREER IN LAW ENFORCEMENT?
START BUILDING IT NOW
If you’re serious about becoming a cop one day—or working anywhere in law enforcement—what you do today matters.
Here’s what you need to lock in now so your future stays wide open:

1. Make Smart Decisions—Even When It’s Hard
Every choice you make either puts you one step closer or one step further from that badge. One dumb moment can stick on your record and hold you back, even if you’re trying to do better later. Think before you act. Walk away if you have to. Your future is worth it.

2. Build a Solid Work History
Even simple jobs—fast food, retail, manual labor—show that you’re reliable, responsible, and can hold it down. Law enforcement looks for people who show up and work hard. Get that resume started early.

3. Choose Your Circle Wisely
Who you hang out with says a lot about you. If your crew is always getting into trouble, skipping work, or messing with stuff they shouldn’t—distance yourself. That’s not disloyalty. That’s leadership.

4. Stay Clean
No drugs. No underage drinking. Not only is it illegal, but it can also ruin your chances before you even get started. Most departments run background checks, drug tests, and interviews that dig deep. You don’t want to have to explain bad choices—just avoid them.

5. Keep Your Record Clean
Stay out of fights. Stay off social media drama. Think long-term. A clean record isn’t just good for law enforcement—it opens doors anywhere.

6. Gain Experience
